Welcome to the land of the "real" mountains! Lake City District includes five peaks over 14,000 in elevation... "fourteeners" as they are affectionately nicknamed.
Colorado’s second largest natural lake, San Cristobal, is also in Lake City District. There are quite a few lakes throughout the area, making this a great fishing escape. The Gunnison and Uncompahgre National Forests provide virtually unlimited wilderness access and jaw dropping scenery as far as the eye can see. Any type of outdoor activity...fishing, four-wheel driving, hiking, horseback riding, water sports, scenic driving, and mountain biking, just to name a few, will take on a whole new level with the mountainous backdrop you will experience in this recreation district.
